Description: Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a tenure track Associate/Full Professor with an extramurally funded, independent, primarily wet bench-based research program in the area of pulmonary biology.
- Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, airway biology, asthma, sepsis and acute lung injury, lung immunity, pulmonary vascular biology, stem cell biology, or lung cancer.

- The ideal candidate will have an PhD, MD PhD, MD or equivalent doctoral degree. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor (Tenure) will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.
Community/Facility info: A non-profit, level II trauma center serving a tri-county area of 170,000. We are a regional tertiary center that offers high technology and is accredited by the Joint Commission. Our typical daily census is approximately 260 (approximately 150 acute beds) with 155 physicians on the Medical Staff. Our sub-specialty support is very good. Our emergency room visits for 2005 were 52,787. We are one of the few New York hospitals that actually operate in the black. We are much bigger than what you would expect in a rural area. The services offered here are advanced and our technology vast. Our state of the art critical care unit has 14-beds, the step-down unit has 12 beds and our two new cath labs have digital equipment. We have 7 operating rooms that will be replaced by 9 new OR's in newly constructed space in 2008.Our Ambulatory Surgery Center has 4 OR’s and 4 endoscopy suites. Of significance is that we expanded our cardiology services to include open-heart surgery and angioplasty in 2005. We offer a quality of life that is second to none along with practicing in a big hospital. A picturesque community of 38,000 located on Lake Champlain and at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. We live where others vacation. It is extremely safe with a low cost of living slightly above the national average. There are excellent schools both public and private. The State University of New York also has a branch here with 6,200 students. Montreal, Burlington, Vermont and Lake Placid are all within an hour’s drive. Site Selection Magazine has chosen the area as a top city in the nation for business development for the past eight years. In addition, a Florida-based economic consulting firm (Policom Corp) has ranked the area as the top micropolitan in NY and the 27th in the nation.
