Description: Children’s Hospital seeking a Chief of Anesthesiology to provide strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership for our pediatric anesthesia program.
--This physician leader will oversee a team of 3 full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologists while maintaining an active clinical practice within a highly specialized surgical environment.
--Rotating 1-in-4 home call schedule.
--This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing anesthesia team dedicated to delivering exceptional care for children undergoing complex procedures, including craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, acute burn care, burn reconstruction, and select plastic and reconstructive surgeries.
--The Chief will play a critical role in advancing departmental performance, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety, and aligning anesthesia services with institutional priorities and growth initiatives.
--Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the anesthesia department
--Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
--Maintain an active clinical practice delivering pediatric anesthesia care
--Supervise, mentor, and support a team of Pediatric Anesthesiologists
--Lead physician recruitment, onboarding, and professional development
--Manage operational workflows, scheduling, and departmental efficiency
--Serve as the primary liaison between anesthesia, hospital leadership, and multidisciplinary teams
--Collaborate closely with surgical and perioperative partners to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
--The anesthesia team operates in an all-MD model without CRNA supervision, running two operating rooms daily. Physicians spend approximately 90% of their time in the operating room, with additional responsibilities including preoperative assessments and occasional PACU coverage.
--The clinical environment includes a diverse mix of critical and non-critical pediatric patients and offers opportunities to utilize:
- Regional anesthesia
- Ultrasound-guided blocks
- Advanced airway management
- Anesthesia support for laser scar revision procedures
--Physicians work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes pediatric burn surgeons, plastic surgeons, physician assistants, surgical technologists, perioperative nurses, physical and occupational therapists, recreational therapy staff, and advanced practice providers.
--There are no resident or fellow teaching responsibilities.
--Required:
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required
- Board certified in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Ohio
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical or academic setting preferred
