Description: Northern New York State Hospital is seeking Locum Gastroenterology Physician Assistant to provide coverage starting 7/6/2026 - 8a-4p, M-F - Full Time Coverage Needed - Staff on unit: Provider: 1, Anesthesia: in each procedure, NP: 1, LPN: 1 - Acuity level of patients: Adults acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. - Patient Ratios: 1:14-18 - Automated Medication dispensing system: Pixys - Charting: EPIC (Epic Experience Required) - Evaluate medical problems of patients in the assigned Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine practice setting and request consultation of other specialties when indicated. - This role requires a strong understanding of gastroenterology, the ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and the skill to provide comprehensive patient care. - Provide medical and emergency interventions appropriate to the client’s needs; prescribe and monitor medications relevant to the diagnosis; order and monitor the appropriateness of emergency interventions. - Referral of complex and high-priority cases to collaborating physicians concerning complicated diagnostic problems, serious illness, complicated therapeutic issues, and re-evaluation of chronic conditions - Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA, The Joint Commission, state regulatory standards, and evidence-based standards of care. - Maintain documentation compliance for appropriate coding and billing. - Required: NY license, AHA BLS, Board Certified, Min of 3 years’ recent experience
