Description: Medical Center is seeking Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Physician Assistant to join our team
- This role supports surgical operations, inpatient management, outpatient clinical care, and consultative services.
- Responsibilities may include operating room first assist duties, inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic visits, and participation in on-call coverage for the service.
- Surgical PAs commonly assist surgeons during procedures, perform perioperative evaluations, and manage postoperative care under physician supervision.
- Performs comprehensive patient evaluations including history and physical examinations for surgical consultations, preoperative assessments, and postoperative care.
- Assists surgeons in the operating room by functioning as first or second assist during surgical procedures, providing exposure, tissue handling, suturing, hemostasis, and wound closure as directed by the surgeon.
- Conducts inpatient rounds and evaluates hospitalized patients, documenting clinical findings and collaborating with the supervising physician on care plans.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests including laboratory studies and imaging to support surgical evaluation and management.
- Develops and implements treatment plans for surgical patients in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Provides outpatient clinic care including new patient consultations, postoperative follow-up visits, and management of surgical complications.
- Participates in call coverage for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, responding to urgent consultations, emergency department evaluations, and inpatient issues under physician supervision.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Provides patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, postoperative care, medications, and recovery expectations.
- Coordinates care with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, anesthesia providers, hospitalists, and other specialty services to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrates proficiency in surgical and procedural skills appropriate to the specialty.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and service line development as appropriate.
- Maintains a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards.
- Delivers exemplary patient-centered care to ensure a positive patient experience across the organization.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervising physicians or management.
- Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of surgical anatomy, perioperative care, and operating room protocols, ability to function as a surgical first or second assist during operative procedures, Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and healthcare technology
- Base salary range - ($120k-$140k) commensurate with experience

- 1-2 years experience as a Physician Assistant in a surgical specialty, acute care, or hospital-based setting preferred
- License/Registration/Certification: Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State of New York
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required
