Description: Northern New York State Hospital is seeking Locum BC Gastroenterologist to provide coverage starting June 2026 - Dates needed: June 29th 7am- July 6th 7am July 6th 7am- July 13th 7am July 13th 7am- July 20th 7am July 20th 7am- July 27th 7am July 27th 7am- Aug 3rd 7am Aug 3rd 7am- Aug 10th 7am Aug 10th 7am- Aug 17th 7am Aug 17th 7am- Aug 24th 7am Aug 24th 7am- Aug 31st 7am - Procedure hours are 7:30-3:30 - Office hours are 8am-4pm - Office and Procedure days will vary depending on availability - 24h Call Coverage - Office and Procedure Expectations M-F during 24h Call - Meeting with and assessing patients - Running diagnostic tests - Performing colonoscopies and endoscopies to see within the colon and digestive system - Taking X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and ultrasounds - Referring patients for surgery and continuing their treatment post-surgery - Treating patients for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, gastritis, hemorrhoids, Crohn’s disease, lactose intolerance, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease, ulcers, celiac disease, gallbladder disease and certain cancers - Completing administrative tasks such as filling out paperwork and patient records - Meeting with medical staff and contributing to business decisions - Staff on unit: Provider: 1, Anesthesia: in each procedure, NP: 1, LPN: 1 - Acuity level of patients: Adults acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. - Patient Ratios: 1:15-20 - Automated Medication dispensing system: Pixys - Charting: EPIC - Upper and Lower Scope Experience required - Required: NY license, AHA BLS, ACLS, Min of 2 years’ experience in the last two years
